Make sure that you:
* Contact your veterinary hospital to authorize a medical release of
information to Northbound Pound Puppies for your veterinary reference.
* Contact your landlord if you are renting and let them know that a
Northbound Pound Puppies volunteer will be calling to verify that you
are allowed to have pets. * Notify your personal references that a Northbound Pound Puppies volunteer will be contacting them.
2) PHONE CHAT
Your application will then be reviewed by a volunteer and all references will be checked. If the application and references meet our adoption criteria you will be contacted by an adoption coordinator. Please allow 2-5 days for this.
Northbound Pound Puppies is run solely by volunteers who have their own jobs, families, furbabies and lives. Please be patient!
3) HOME VISIT
The adoption coordinator will discuss the next steps and then help set up a home visit with a Northbound Team Member. This is just a brief tour of your home to ensure that it will be a good environment for a rescue dog.
Once the home visit is complete then we can begin to discuss the perfect dog to fit your home! Northbound Pound Puppies strives to find the BEST match for your home, not just the FIRST match. So please understand that while not every home is a good fit for the dog that they have applied for, that definitely does not mean that the application isn't a perfect fit for another dog!
When you have decided to adopt a dog, Northbound Pound Puppies will request that you contact their current foster family. Foster moms and dads are a very essential aspect of our rescue and we feel it is crucial that all new adopters speak with the family that has been caring and loving their new addition! The foster parents will know the adopted dogs habits, schedule, likes and dislikes.
We also understand that for many people they feel that a person-to-doggie meet and greet is essential. This will not always be possible due to the fact that our pets are starting off in the south and many will be adopted before they arrive. We feel that talking with the foster homes will provide more information on the dog or puppy than a 10 minute meet and greet will. If it is a must that you meet the new addition before adopting we will do out best to arrange that once you have an approved application.
We will not hold a dog for a meet and greet if another family is ready to adopt and is also a perfect match.
